My Only Garden Success

I have seen some of the most gorgeous flower gardens since I started blogging, and I am envious of each one. I would love to have a French garden with winding paths and little vignettes with statuary and seating. I can't begin to tell you how many magazines and books I have bought to find the exact flower garden that I would like, but my enthusiasm and energy starts to fade once I bring all the plants home. Sadly, I have lost so many due to my lack of initiative.

My only claim to fame is my beautiful hydrangeas. I love the colors this bush produces. Lavender, pale blue and the vibrant rose color. If you have a beautiful garden I would love for you to leave a comment regarding your approach to gardening and the type of flowers you have.

Also, I am having my drawing for the giveaway pillow shown below on Friday, May 29th, so please leave a post for your name to be entered. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

If I could have success with only one plant ever - it would be a hydrangea!! They are my favorite flowers!! I don't have too much luck growing them, but I keep trying!

Love the pillow!!

Please enter me in your drawing for the lovely pillow! As for gardens and flowers, the only reason I have any at all in my yard is my (now ex) boyfriend planted them all. I am allergic to bees, so I kind of avoid flowers, though I love them. And every time I've tried to grow hydrangeas, well, I kill them without fail. Yours are indeed beautiful!

I too found your blog through Fifi. Just loved the pillow she had rec'd, so decided to check out your blog. Please enter me into your drawing for the pillow. It'd be wonderful to be the lucky name drawn for the lovely pillow you are so graciously giving away.
As for gardening. I just love to flower garden and have gardens both in the city and at our cabin in the country. I've learned that by choosing plants that are native to your area, many still thrive with neglect and will reward you as though you've lavished them with attention. As for my cabin garden it only receives water on the week-ends, other than when the Lord brings a shower to it, thus the native plants are a must. I've rec'd so many of these free of charge from friends and it is now what I consider my "friendship garden". I have heirloom plants that were my Great-Aunts, from my 3 sisters, from 3 friends, as well as a friends sister and a neighbor. A great way to do a garden. Being from Minnesota we have tremendous harsh conditions, thus the native plants do the best for me. Good luck on your gardening venture. Your hydrangeas are wonderful!
Thanks for sharing with your blog community.

Just one more comment. I just looked at the pillow closer after my previous post. I'd love to win this pillow as I was in Gothenberg in 1979 visiting my ancestors. How cool would it be to have a pillow that every time I saw it would give me those wonderful memories from 30 years ago, when I was still a impatient teen and didn't yet have the love for all things European.

Oh, my! I can't wait to peruse your blog. I found you through FiFi. I've looked at your etsy and your pillows are fabulous!

As to gardening, leaving in the southern California desert does bring it's challenges. I have an inner and outer courtyard area with roses that are safe from the rabbits. The outer areas of my garden are planted with native drought tolerant plants. It's a lot of work, but when it's done it's so nice to sit back and enjoy the flowers and the birds they attract.

I just had to laugh when I read your post. I, too, love that look and paw through magazines and books. I know the look I'm going for, but unfortunately I'm not a very good gardener. I keep working at it. I plan to put in hydrangeas this summer. Wish me luck. I'd love to be entered in your drawing. My email is: bfdgirl@yahoo.com. thanks, Peggy from PA
