Then we were all filled with regret at the last minute, so we put together some seriously eleventh-hour costumes. I cut holes for my head and arms in a big dog food bag. (Safeway, Tasty Nuggets, extra-large size - god, I remember it like it was yesterday!) All went well for the trick-or-treating, but then we decided to take a short-cut home to my house that involved scaling a chain-link fence. I was wearing wooden clogs for this endeavor, so of course I got tangled on the row of barbed wire at the top of the fence, tore my costume from stem to stern, fell down the other side, and landed in a heap in my underwear, part of a dog food bag, and a lot of crumbs. And as tragedies always seem to happen in pairs, the seventh-grader who I had an undying crush on was there with his friends, crossing over the fence in the other direction. He actually fetched my clogs for me. That was 22 years ago he and I have been married for the last 10 of them! So I guess the ending of the story isn't completely tragic!silver sheephttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09553863821730700777noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2967885056923455755.post-25664260963811952292009-10-31T17:51:03.356-05:002009-10-31T17:51:03.356-05:00My worst costume ever was the year my mother made ...My worst costume ever was the year my mother made me wear my winter coat underneath my costume. My costume was all burlap and I was supposed to be a potato sack. Can you imagine me trying to explain my costume at every house? I looked like a total idiot. From that year on, I made my own costumes! lol

xo CathCathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12568676340564795335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2967885056923455755.post-52684070724691924162009-10-31T08:47:35.750-05:002009-10-31T08:47:35.750-05:00My worst costume...

I think it was the 5th grade and my mom made me the prettiest princess costume using some gold fabric she bought when they lived in Germany. I was so excited, I had admired that fabric in her sewing room since I could remember. A week before Halloween I got the chicken pox. By Halloween I looked less like a princess and more like a wicked witch. I couldn't go trick-or-treating so I put my costume on and stood by the door waiting for trick-or-treaters. The following year as a 6th grader I was "too cool" to trick-or-treat so I was robbed of my last Halloween...

Happy Halloween!Tammy @ tinselshop.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06026936963870168110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2967885056923455755.post-40020534577544128002009-10-29T23:53:59.067-05:002009-10-29T23:53:59.067-05:00Just found your lovely blog...your pillows in your...Just found your lovely blog...your pillows in your shop look amazing..off to take a wee peek! I dressed up as a preggie nun...oh, yeah. {Am still saying my Hail Mary's for that!}. Anyway, when I arrived at the party, I was SOOOO embarrassed! It was NOT a costume party...just a party that happened to be on Halloween. How bad is that!?? I generally went as an old lady because it could be accomplished with stuff just laying around the house. I always wanted to go as a clown, but never took the time to make the costume. Once, while living in Greece, I went as a pregnant model! How original is that? Funny thing is, people really thought I was pregnant and kept scolding me for drinking alcohol!Tamerie Shriver Hallidayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05520049303830446498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2967885056923455755.post-62176641516880680892009-10-27T09:54:18.099-05:002009-10-27T09:54:18.099-05:00I was one of the lucky kids whose mother always ma...I was one of the lucky kids whose mother always made our costumes. I did the same with my two boys as well. Now I'm making costumes for grandchildren who live all over the country/world and loving it.

I'm catching up with postings after spending three days in bed with a nasty cold that turned to asthma issues. Just getting back up to my old self and have missed all of my blogging friends. Hope to be caught soon and back to posting on my own blog. Hugs to you. My first Halloween was my worst costume. I didn't even know what Halloween was because I was so young, so at dinner I was quickly told how to trick or treat. After that my mom took out a giant orange pumpkin costume, squeezed it on me, then began stuffing me with wads of balled up newspapers! Not only was I itchy the entire evening, that costume turned out to be "recycled" every Halloween, and I wore it without complaint for years! Good luck to everyone who participates. I can't wait to hear some of the terrible costumes that some of you have had to wear. I loved the bubble gum on the tennis shoe....hilarious.
